Oakwood High School, with a student population of 649, is located immediately south of and adjacent to the City of Dayton and the University of Dayton. The City of Oakwood encompasses 2.2 square miles and has a population of approximately 9,000 people. Oakwood is a suburban community with 97.9% of the city being residential.

Advanced Placement:
Students taking AP courses earn a .05 “add-on” factor to their GPA for each AP course completed with a grade of C or higher and completion of the AP Exam.

College Credit Plus:
Students taking College Credit Plus courses earn both high school and college credit. Students earning college credit plus credit, in a core course, receive a .05 “add-on” factor to their GPA.

Honors/High Honors:
High Honors (AP Prep) English course was offered in the 10th grade (replaced with AP English 10 Seminar in 2022 - 2023). Honors courses are offered in mathematics and English at all grade levels. Honors II and III courses are available in French and Spanish.

Beginning with the 2021-2022 academic school year, students could earn a .025 add-on factor for each yearlong Honors and High Honors course completed with a C or higher. The add-on is adjusted for courses earning less than 1 credit. Also beginning in 2021-2022, students taking Academic Decathlon who earned a C or higher and a qualifying test score received the .025 add on.

Career Education Programs:
Through a contractual arrangement with two neighboring school districts, Oakwood High School provides students with a choice of 25 career programs. All are technical preparation programs which award college credit.
